Why are our fragrances sold by the kilogram rather than by the litre?

At CODE OILS, we sell our fragrance compositions by weight rather than by volume, in line with professional practices in the fragrance and formulation industries.

The kilogram is a precise, stable unit of measurement that can be used directly in production. A litre, on the other hand, measures volume, which varies according to the density of each fragrance composition.

For example, with a fragrance density of 0.90, 1 litre equals 900 g, while 1 kg represents approximately 1.11 litres. Purchasing by weight therefore provides a more accurate measure of the actual quantity of fragrance material purchased and allows production costs to be compared more effectively.
